A desert visit with a different focus
Mleiha’s archaeology and the Faya landscape tell a much longer story than a modern safari camp. The area has guided heritage, desert and astronomy experiences. Start with the current Mleiha National Park programme to see which visits are operating.
We would choose one guided experience and allow time for its explanation, rather than rushing between rock formations for photographs. Archaeological sites are protected places; stay within the access arrangements provided.
Decide how much activity you want
Ask whether your booking centres on archaeology, a vehicle excursion, walking or an evening experience. Confirm the actual meeting point and return time. A trip advertised as “Mleiha” may combine very different activities.
Stargazing depends on conditions. If that is your main reason to go, ask what happens when visibility is poor. Do not expect a guaranteed night-sky view from every desert dinner.
Cooler months and a planned return
We would choose the cooler season for time outside, with an early or later-day programme according to the operator. In summer, check whether the experience remains suitable rather than assuming the same itinerary works year-round.
Mleiha can replace a Dubai safari day or form a stop on a longer route towards the east coast. It does not fit neatly into an afternoon of museums in central Sharjah. Arrange the return journey, especially for an evening booking.
