A walk on both sides of the Creek
Begin in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Leave time for the lanes and courtyards rather than treating it as a photograph stop. Continue towards the waterfront and use the signed public abra service for your crossing.
On the Deira side, visit the Spice Souk and Gold Souk. Check the actual route and fare at the abra station; public crossings and private sightseeing rides are different products.
Go when you can enjoy being outside
Our suggestion is a cooler-season morning, or a late-afternoon outing that continues into the evening. Individual shops and museums have their own hours, so check any specific stop you care about.
In summer, shorten the walk and choose an indoor stop or a long lunch. Carry water and leave time to sit by the Creek. A day in Old Dubai need not become a shopping marathon.
Small details that make the visit easier
If buying gold, compare purity, weight, making charges and the final written price. For spices, agree the quantity and price before the bag is filled. Browsing does not oblige you to buy.
For a less shopping-focused day, look at Al Shindagha Museum and its Perfume House instead of adding more malls. Choose the current exhibits you want to see and check their hours. This route starts our five-day itinerary.
