Al Rafisah before the waterfront
Al Rafisah Dam has a developed visitor area and managed water activities. It suits a gentler stop for views and a break, rather than a wilderness hike. Check the operator’s activity availability on the day.
Continue to Khorfakkan for the beach promenade, the amphitheatre area and nearby waterfall. Souq Sharq offers a different kind of stop from the waterfront. Our suggestion is to leave the promenade for later light, after the hotter part of the day.
Shees Park is not an unmarked wadi route
Shees Park offers a developed mountain setting. Pick it for a manageable park visit, particularly with a mixed-age group. Nearby village and valley paths are a separate proposition; use a recognised route and respect residents and cultivated land.
Do not assume every track on an online map is a public hiking trail. For a longer walk, arrange a guide or use current official trail information. The easy park option and the adventurous valley option need different preparation.
Stay on the coast if you have time
Khorfakkan is in Sharjah emirate, on the Gulf of Oman side of the UAE. It pairs naturally with Fujairah and the east coast, not with a quick walk around Sharjah city. Our two-week route uses two nights on this side of the mountains.
For a day trip, travel out in daylight and keep the return unhurried. We would choose the cooler months for outdoor time. After rain or an access warning, replace valley walking with an open, managed attraction; see the wadi guide.
